Chumash Science Through Time

The Chumash Science Through Time (CSTT) project and website is run by Sabine Talaugon (Chumash). Featuring informational posts and videos, the website aims to teach viewers more about Indigenous science and lifeways. Check out some of Talaugon's videos here.

Chumash Tomols & Paddlers

The tomol (Chumash plank canoe) is an integral part of Chumash culture that has persisted to this day. Now, tomol paddlers continue to build and paddle tomols off the Southern California coast. Paddler Eva Pagaling was a speaker in our 2019 Speaker Series Program, and has been featured in numerous short videos discussing her role and experiences. The videos featured here are from Chumash Life and NOAA Stories from the Blue "Homecoming: Journey to Limuw."

Native Narratives

In this video, Chumash and Tataviam Tribal Elder Alan Salazar discusses the importance of Southern California's waterways and their role in Chumash culture. This video was filmed at our museum and created by the Friends of the Los Angeles River Organization (FoLAR).
